Analyzing digital analytics to uncover pain points and increase organic through SEO optimization for a think-and-do tank

Timeline: 6 weeks (Oct 2024 - Dec 2024)

Team: Gerard Samson, Shivani Mehta, Eloisa Rodriguez, Saskhi Sonawani, Emily Chiu

Think-and-do thank, CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance, collaborated with the Pratt DX Center to understand their users' experience and engagement with their site and their social media content. Our team created a social analytics framework to solidify their social media strategy, created a mockup based on opportunities found in keyword research, found 14 error pages disrupting user experience, and created a dashboard showcasing ISLG's performance.

Goals

SEO Optimization

Increase organic traffic through search rankings

Content Restructuring

Improve user experience and reach broader audiences through adding and reordering content on website and social media channels.

Results

We designed a performance dashboard to give ISLG needed context of where strengths and opportunities lie.

There's opportunities to decrease bounce rate, increase visit duration, and organic search.

We found 14 error pages across the site. These can pages disrupt user experience and decrease rankings in the search results.

We suggest to move it to ISLG to fix the page or remove it entirely. Implementing these solutions can decrease bounce rates, improve visit duration, and improve their search rankings.

Before

After

We found 14 error pages across the site. These can pages disrupt user experience and decrease rankings in the search results.

We suggest to move it to ISLG to fix the page or remove it entirely. Implementing these solutions can decrease bounce rates, improve visit duration, and improve their search rankings.

We then examined ISLG's social media channels and devised a framework that would boost impressions, maintain high engagements, and brand awareness longterm.

Outcome

Our group received positive feedback from the client and stakeholders in our storytelling and our recommendations. ISLG especially liked the case study recommendation and keyword research—two contributions I personallly spearheaded. ISLG looked forward keeping in touch to continue to implement our recommendations.
